Two-dimensional codes-once a new technology in the early days of camera phones-are becoming more and more common because in the COVID-19 era, the ability to point smartphones at images to obtain information becomes more and more valuable.

However, some Americans, especially the elderly, still find them difficult to use. A recent YouGov study found that 14% of Americans find QR codes difficult to use, especially adults over 65 (20%). Another 18% of senior citizens have never heard of QR codes.
